Everyone at Kentucky Dog Training LLC would like to wish all of our clients, both two legged and four legged, a very happy New Year! 2017 looks to be our biggest year yet, with several new services being added as well as expansions of our current programs. Head trainer Sam is currently in Florida, working for The Doghouse LLC until May. While Sam has really enjoyed being in Florida, she is very eager to get back to Kentucky and rejoin Rivenwood. We will be restarting training programs in May, with our first class of boarding school and private lesson dogs starting in May/June. Our facility will still be located in Lexington, but we will be expanding service to Louisville with 1-2 days weekly of private lessons and boarding school pick-up and drop-off there.
Another service that will be added in 2017 is our Trained Companion Dog Program. Trained companion dogs are something we have been interested in adding for awhile, and we are excited to have partnered up with Waterfront Golden Retrievers to ensure that every dog that enters the program comes from a quality breeder. The parents of each puppy have excellent temperments, are health tested, and come from lines that have been shown to have above average longevity for the breed. These puppies recieve exceptional starts to life in our training program, and will leave as well trained dogs that will fit perfectly in with their new family. Certain dogs that have the correct tempermant may be trained as service dogs. We are only going to be accepting a limited number of reservations for these dogs as they will be living in a trainer's home as part of the family, and get lots of one-on-one attention. Depending on the level of training, these puppies may be available to go home in late 2017 or 2018.
We are also thrilled to be expanding our group lesson programs in 2017. We will be partnering with a few different kennels to offer group training classes and seminar format classes to the central Kentucky area. Our group classes will include puppy kindergarden, basic obedience, advanced obedience, and introduction to dog sports. We will also be teaching some classes in a seminar format. These classes will be directed at one specific issue, and will last from one to three hours. Seminars that we have planned include house training, really reliable recalls, loose leash walking, and bringing home a new puppy. Sign up for our e-mail list here to be the first to know when we add a new group class or seminar!
